Through Yellow Backpack, We specialize in curating customized programs such as gap year international experiences, global curriculum development, college placement portfolio development, adult sabbaticals, and homeschool travel pods that bring international perspectives into meaningful learning journeys.

By weaving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into experiential learning, we will guide clients in developing global citizenship, fostering critical thinking, and expanding cultural awareness.

WHY YELLOW BACKPACK?

It all started with a holiday gift from my adult children—a bright yellow, waterproof backpack that floats if needed. Their gift card hinted at two possibilities: equipping me for my adventures or a gentle nudge that I might need extra help while in the water.

The timing was perfect. One of my first adventures leading a global program had me kayaking on a glacier lake and white-water rafting beside an iceberg. The yellow backpack became my trusty travel companion.

As I embark on building my next adventure—a global education consulting firm—naming it Yellow Backpack was an obvious choice. This brand represents more than just a bag; it symbolizes resilience, exploration, and a lifelong journey of discovering the world and, in turn, discovering ourselves.

Patrice is an award-winning educator, former global studies director, and consultant with more than 20 years of experience. Her areas of expertise include global competency development, curriculum design, and experiential education. She is known for transforming classrooms into living laboratories. Patrice is a community leader, curriculum innovator, and fierce advocate for student agency and purposeful travel. Her expertise in connecting global goals with educational equity has shaped Yellow Backpack’s mission.

Journey Alchemist & Director of Logistics

Janet brings 28+ years in education leadership. She is a founder of numerous K-12 schools and the creation of integrated preschool programs. A logistics expert and creative problem-solver, Janet ensures that every Yellow Backpack program runs with intention and efficiency. She specializes in operational architecture, cultural immersion, and aligning trip details with educational values. An avid traveler and nonprofit advisor, Janet believes every journey should inspire connection, clarity, and responsible citizenship.
